Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the Academy of Political Science was initially established to provide education to prospective bureaucrats in the field of domestic governance, foreign affairs and lighting at the beginning of the independence of Indonesia. After the academy is integrated into the "Universiteit Gadjah Mada" in 1949, the academy into the Fakulteit Law, which later became Fakulteit Legal, Economic, Social and Political in 1952. Faculty of Social and Political later formed separately since 1955, which later changed its name to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, abbreviated Fisipol
